This article provides an overview of the new features, improvements, and on-premises scanner updates in the Fortanix Key Insight 26.05 release.
1.0 New Features
Fortanix Key Insight now supports scanning network logs on Linux using network security monitoring frameworks (such as Zeek) to discover cryptographic assets and analyze metadata across network-connected systems (JIRA: KI-3362).
A new NETWORKS tab has been added to the Overview, Assessment, and Cryptographic Assets pages for on-premises connections, providing details about the scanned network assets and associated resources.

Added support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 (RHEL 8) for the Fortanix On-premises Scanner and File System Scanner Agent packages (JIRA: KI-4457).
Starting with this release, support for Ubuntu 20.04 and Ubuntu 22.04 has been discontinued for the Fortanix On-premises Scanner and File System and Network Scanner Agent packages.

2.0 Improvements
Improved the Fortanix On-Premises Scanner to run as a managed service on Windows and Linux, providing enhanced reliability, lifecycle management, and continuous operation (KI: JIRA-4648).

Enhanced security across on-premises deployments by providing an option to store all sensitive credentials (API keys, tokens, passwords, and so on) in Base64-encoded format instead of clear text in environment variables and configuration files (JIRA: KI-4823).

Added support for Cryptographic Asset Types in the on-premises Containers and Source Code Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) dashboard to reflect the PQC readiness (KI: JIRA-4784).

3.0 On-premises Scanner Updates
Enhanced the Fortanix On-premises Scanner with the following (JIRA: KI-2774):
Renamed the
fs_accumulatorparameter toaccumulatorin the File System configuration for improved clarity and consistency.

Enhanced the File System Scanner Agent with the following (JIRA: KI-2774):
Renamed the File System Scanner Agent to the File System and Network Scanner Agent for Linux systems to support network log scanning capabilities.
Added the
network_scan_enabledandfilesystem_scan_enabledparameters to the File System and Network Scanner Agent configuration file (Linux) to enable network log scanning, including cryptographic asset metadata.
