[4.0] Patch - July 31, 2021

Fortanix Data Security Manager (DSM) 4.0 Patch (4.0.1475) comes with some improvements and fixes.

  • It is “REQUIRED” to upgrade Fortanix DSM to either the 3.25 or 3.27 version before upgrading to version 4.0 Patch release (4.0.1475).
  • If you are planning to upgrade to Fortanix DSM 3.27 version first, please take note of a known issue in the 3.27 version and review if it affects your applications.
  • When upgrading Fortanix DSM for AWS/VMware, please make sure you are running the latest version of 3.27, that is, [3.27] - July 6, 2021.
  • This release is applicable for Fortanix DSM series 1 and 2 appliances and Azure/AWS/VMware deployments.
  • Support for cloud environments will be available through the respective Cloud Marketplace installation.
  • The expected time for a 3-node cluster upgrade (after the software package is uploaded) will take about 1 hour.
  • This release will upgrade the operating system of the appliance to Ubuntu 20.04 version.

1. Bug Fixes

This release fixes: 

  • Kubernetes cluster-config job failure issue after Kubernetes upgrade. (JIRA: DEVOPS-1518).
  • Fortanix DSM new node join failure during the cluster-config job in files pki/etcd/peer.ext or server.ext. (JIRA: DEVOPS-1419).
  • Panic caused by extra trailing slashes in the API path. (JIRA: PROD-3502).

2. Known Issues

  • If the "Key undo policy" is configured on the group and setting an expiry date or deactivating a key, an empty Key History item might be shown (JIRA: PROD-3476).
