# Sign Up for Fortanix DSM SaaS

## 1.0 Fortanix Data Security Manager SaaS Free Trial

This article describes how to sign up for a free trial and get started with Fortanix-Data-Security-Manager (DSM) Software as a Service (SaaS).

Fortanix DSM SaaS is the world's first cloud service secured with Intel® SGX. With Fortanix DSM SaaS, you can securely generate, store, and use cryptographic keys and certificates, as well as other secrets such as passwords, API keys, tokens, or any blob of data. Your business-critical applications and containers can integrate with Fortanix DSM SaaS using legacy cryptographic interfaces or using the native Fortanix DSM SaaS RESTful interface.

Fortanix DSM SaaS uses built-in cryptography in Intel Xeon® CPUs to help protect the customer's keys and data from all external agents, reducing the system complexity greatly by removing reliance on characteristics of the physical boxes. Intel SGX enclaves prevent access to customer's keys or data by Fortanix or any other cloud service provider.

Fortanix offers a free trial for Fortanix DSM SaaS. Set up a free trial to access the Fortanix DSM portal and secure your key management and cryptography services on a cloud-neutral platform.

## 2.0 Sign Up For A Free Trial

Perform the following steps to sign up for a free trial on Fortanix DSM SaaS application:

1. Go to the Fortanix website using URL: `https://www.fortanix.com`.
2. Click **Try Us**, and on the **Experience the Power of Fortanix** page, click **START FREE 30-DAY TRIAL** on the **Data Security Manager Enterprise Tier** tile.

  - **Enterprise Tier**: This is ideal for businesses of any size looking to scale with a full set of industry-leading data security capabilities. Click **START 30-DAY FREE TRIAL** to sign up for the Enterprise Tier.
3. In the **SIGN UP FOR ENTERPRISE TIER** form:
  1. **First name** and **Last name**
  2. **Email**: Enter your work email.
  3. **Job title**
  4. **Phone number**
  5. **Country**
  6. **Region**: where you want to use DSM SaaS.
  7. **Select the service**: Select the option **30-day Free Trial (All Services)**.
  8. You can optionally select the check boxes:
    - **Schedule a demo – See Fortanix DSM SaaS in action!**
    - **I agree to receive other communications from Fortanix.**
4. Click **GET STARTED**. You will now be taken to the Fortanix DSM SaaS signup page.
5. On the **Sign up** page, the **Business Email address**, **First name**, and **Last name** fields will be automatically filled based on the details you provided in the **Get started/Start your 30-day free trial** form.
6. Create a new password and retype the same. *For more information on password requirements for Fortanix DSM SaaS user accounts, refer to* [*Section 2.1: Fortanix DSM SaaS Password Policy*](/v1/docs/users-guide-sign-up-for-fortanix-data-security-manager-saas#21-fortanix-dsm-saas-password-policy).
7. Complete the reCAPTCHA verification by checking the **I'm not a robot** check box.
8. Click **SIGN UP** to finalize your registration and complete the sign-up process.

### 2.1 Fortanix DSM SaaS Password Policy

Below are the password-related settings and behaviors currently applicable to all Fortanix DSM SaaS user accounts:

- **Minimum Length**: Passwords must contain at least 8 characters.
- **Maximum Sequence**: No restrictions for sequential characters.
- **Maximum Repetition**: No restrictions for repeating characters.
- **Password Complexity**: No complexity requirements are enforced. Users may choose any combination of characters if the minimum length is met.
- **Password Expiration**: Passwords do not expire. Users are not required to change their passwords periodically.
- **Password Change Frequency/Password rotation**: No mandatory frequency or rotation period enforced for password updates. Users may change their passwords at any time, but are not forced to do so.
- **Incorrect Password Attempts**: No limit on incorrect password entries. Accounts are not automatically locked due to repeated failed login attempts.
- **Password Reuse**: No restriction preventing users from using previous passwords.
- **Temporary Passwords**: Temporary passwords are not used or issued as part of the login or onboarding process.
- **Password History**: No extended password history is maintained.

## 3.0 Verifying the Email Address

This section describes the steps to verify your email address after signing up. Perform the following steps:

1. After you click **SIGN UP**, an email will be sent to your registered email address.
2. Go to your mail account and click the link in the verification email to confirm your address and activate your account.

In case you have not received the email, then click the **RESEND VERIFICATION EMAIL** link.

### 3.1 Log in to Fortanix DSM SaaS

After you sign up and verify your email address, you will get an email about your successful registration.

Perform the following steps to log in to the Fortanix DSM:

1. Go to URL: [https://amer.smartkey.io/](https://amer.smartkey.io/) and log in using your new credentials.
2. Enter your **Email ID** and click **LOG IN WITHOUT SSO**. On the next screen, enter your **Password** and click **LOG IN**.

3. Once logged in, you can create a new account or accept an invitation to join another account. After entering an account, you can view and manage groups, users, applications, and security objects belonging to the account. *For more information on how to get started with Fortanix DSM SaaS, refer to the* [*User's Guide: Getting Started with Fortanix Data Security Manager - UI*](/v1/docs/users-guide-getting-started-with-fortanix-data-security-manager-ui).

### 3.2 Resetting Your Forgotten Password

If you have forgotten your password, perform the following steps to reset your password:

1. Go to the Fortanix DSM Login page.
2. Enter your email ID.
3. Click **LOG IN WITHOUT SSO** to log in with a password.
4. Click the **Forgot your password?** link below the password field.
5. On the **Forgot Password** page, enter your email ID and select the **I'm not a robot** check box to complete the reCAPTCHA verification.

6. Click **RESET PASSWORD** to initiate password reset. A password reset email will be sent to the entered email ID.
7. Open the email and click on the reset password link.
8. On the **Reset Password** page, create a new password and re-enter it to confirm.

> In compliance with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) Requirement 8.3.7, when changing or resetting your password, you must not reuse any of your previous **four** passwords, including your current one.
> 
> If you attempt to use a previously used password, the following error message will be displayed:
> 
> “Error: The new password has been used previously. Please choose a different password.”
9. Click **SAVE PASSWORD** to complete the process.

### 3.3 Updating the Email Address

After you log in to Fortanix DSM SaaS and enter your account, you can also update your existing email address if required.

Perform the following steps to update the email address:

1. Navigate to your **Username** → **My profile**.

2. Click the **Edit** ![Edit_Button.png](https://cdn.us.document360.io/c3bd85d2-4ad8-4d85-9f60-f1c168a3aad9/Images/Documentation/11538697033492.png)icon and type the new email ID.

> When you change your email address, the system automatically removes all pending account invitations. You must be reinvited using your new email address.

1. Click **SAVE** to confirm the new email ID. You will get a verification email to confirm the new email ID.
2. Go to your mail account and click the link in the verification email to confirm your updated email address and activate your account.

The email ID is updated successfully.

## 4.0 Subscription Renewal

When your 30-day free trial for Fortanix DSM SaaS expires, you can renew the subscription from the Fortanix DSM SaaS UI.

Perform the following steps:

1. In the Fortanix DSM UI, navigate to **Settings** → **SUBSCRIPTION** tab.

2. On the **Current subscription plan** page, click **CHANGE** to renew the subscription.

3. In the **Plan Change Request** dialog box, click **SEND REQUEST** to submit the renewal request.
4. After submission, the Fortanix Customer Service team will be informed about the subscription change request. Changes to the subscription will be reflected on the Fortanix DSM SaaS System Administrator portal. You can alternatively contact the Fortanix Customer Service team at [customer-service@fortanix.com](mailto:customer-service@fortanix.com) for follow-up.
