# Inviting a User to Fortanix DSM

## 1.0 Introduction

This article describes the steps to invite a user to Fortanix-Data-Security-Manager (DSM).

## 2.0 Prerequisites

Ensure the following:

- The email id of the user is required.
- You need to be an account administrator to invite a user to an account.

> Fortanix recommends that you create more than one administrator accounts to ensure that you do not face any difficulties when an administrator user leaves the organization.

## 3.0 Invite a User

Perform the following steps to add a new user to an account:

1. In the Fortanix DSM UI, navigate to **Users** → **USERS** tab and click **ADD** **USERS** to add a new user.
2. On the **Add new users to the account** page, the following two options are displayed:
  - INVITE BY EMAIL (Selected by default)
  - SEARCH LDAP DIRECTORY

### 3.1 Using INVITE BY EMAIL Option

Perform the following steps to invite a user using the invite by email option:

1. Enter the email address of the person you want to invite.
2. Enter the name of the person being invited. (Optional)
3. Select a role for the user: Auditor, Account Member, or Account Administrator.
4. Click **INVITE**.

### 3.2 Using SEARCH LDAP DIRECTORY Option

Perform the following steps to invite a user using the search LDAP directory option:

1. Select the **Source** and the **Scope** for search.
2. Click **SEARCH DIRECTORY**
3. Select the user(s) you want to invite.
4. From the **“Use value as the email address”** drop down menu, select the field that contains the email address (**E-mail** or **User Principal Name**).
5. Click **ADD USERS TO THE ACCOUNT**.

> To use this option, you must configure Fortanix DSM for Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) authentication. *For more information about LDAP authentication, refer to the* [*User's Guide: Single Sign-On*](https://support.fortanix.com/docs/users-guide-single-sign-on#50-ldap-authentication)*.*

## 4.0 User Actions

You can perform the following actions on existing users:

- **Enable/Disable a User**: To perform this action, hover over the user in the user's list and click the enable or disable toggle.
- **Delete a User**: To perform this action, scroll to the end of the page and click **DELETE USER**.
- **Copy UUID of a User**: To perform this action, from the top of the user’s page, click the copy icon ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/c3bd85d2-4ad8-4d85-9f60-f1c168a3aad9/Images/Documentation/Screenshot (1810)(1).png) next to the app UUID to copy it.
