Sysadmin Settings - Interfaces

Prev Next

1.0 Introduction

This article describes the interface settings that are configured by the Fortanix-Data-Security-Manager (DSM) system administrator. The settings configured here apply to every object of the entire cluster.

2.0 Interfaces

To configure email functionality in Fortanix DSM user interface (UI), navigate to System AdministrationSettings INTERFACES tab.

When you set up a cluster, the interface on which the Fortanix DSM runs will be configured. The Request client certificate endpoint is used when an application needs to authenticate using a certificate. It is used for mutual TLS in certificate-based authentication. If you select the check box corresponding to Request client certificate, Fortanix DSM will request the client certificate on that interface.

By default, only one interface is enabled. If you are using multiple interfaces, you can change the default interface by selecting the corresponding radio button.

For detailed steps to perform client certificate-based (mTLS) authentication for API requests, refer to Mutual Transport Layer Security (mTLS) using Fortanix DSM.

3.0 Redirect Feature

You can access the URL selected as default, as shown in the previous section. Enable the REDIRECT toggle for the Host URL(s) to always redirect to the default URL on the screen.

For example,

As shown in the following figure, the default Host URL is sit.smartkey.io, and the REDIRECT toggle is enabled for api.sit.smartkey.io. Therefore, whenever you access the latter URL, you will always be redirected to the former URL, which is set as the default.

NOTE

  • After saving any changes to the Interfaces setting, a rolling restart of the backend containers must be performed for the configuration to take effect. Until the restart is complete, a warning indicator (⚠) appears next to the tab name in the Settings menu, indicating that there are pending changes.

  • Alternatively, you can revert the configuration change before the cluster restart begins, click CANCEL CHANGE in the Pending changes banner. In the Cancel changes dialog box, click DELETE to confirm and restore the previous configuration, or click CANCEL to return without making any changes.
