# Filesystem Encryption for MariaDB Using Fortanix DSM

This article describes how to integrate **Fortanix Filesystem Encryption (FSE)** with **MariaDB** using **Fortanix-Data-Security-Manager** **(DSM)**. The article explains how to configure FSE to transparently encrypt MariaDB data at rest while allowing the database to operate on plaintext data.
