# Define Hostnames

Before deploying the cluster, you need to determine and configure each Fortanix-Data-Security-Manager (DSM) node in the following ways:

- Provide a unique hostname for each **Appliance**.
- Provide a unique hostname for the **Cluster** (For example, `fortanix-dsm.example.com`).
- Provide a unique hostname for the **Cluster Assets** (For example, `fortanix-dsm-ui.example.com`).
- Add DNS entries for each of the **Appliances Hostnames**. All of these DNS entries should point to the assigned Static IP.
- Add DNS entries for the **Cluster** and **Cluster Assets** hostnames. Both of these DNS entries should point to the Cluster IP.
